You Finished the Class.
Now It's Time to Get Exam Ready!
You've already learned the material. Now your job is to review it, practice it, and get comfortable answering exam-style questions.
Focus your study time on understanding the major concepts, knowing your vocabulary, practicing the math, and taking enough practice questions that you can identify the areas where you need a little more work.
Our Recommended Study Strategy
1. Review Your Class Materials
Start with the material you've already learned. We've provided view-only access to the slide decks from your classes below. Use these to refresh your memory on topics you don't feel completely confident about.
2. Know Your Vocabulary
Real estate has its own language, and understanding the terminology makes everything else easier. Don't just memorize definitions—make sure you understand what the terms mean and how they're used.
3. Take LOTS of Practice Questions
This is one of the most important parts of preparing for your exam. Practice questions help you learn the material AND get used to the way questions may be worded on the actual exam.
When you miss a question, don't just memorize the correct answer. Figure out why your answer was wrong.
4. Study Your Weak Areas
You don't need to spend hours reviewing something you already know. Pay attention to the categories you're consistently missing and spend your study time there.
5. Practice Your Math
Don't avoid the math! Practice the formulas and calculations you learned in class until you're comfortable recognizing which formula you need to use.
6. Don't Cram Everything Into One Night
Shorter, focused study sessions over several days are usually much more useful than trying to relearn your entire real estate course the night before the exam.
-
When you miss a practice question, take a minute to understand why the correct answer is correct. You may see the same concept on your exam—but worded completely differently.
-
If you don’t understand a word in the question, it’s hard to choose the right answer. Spend a little time every day reviewing real estate terminology and definitions.
-
Exam questions may include one little word that changes everything. Slow down and watch for words like BEST, MOST, FIRST, EXCEPT, and NOT.
-
Getting 20 questions right about a topic you already know feels great—but it isn't where you need to spend your time. Track what you're getting wrong and focus there.
-
You don't have to love real estate math—you just need to know how to do it! Practice the common calculations until you can recognize what the question is asking you to solve.
-
Not sure of the answer? Start by eliminating the choices you know are wrong. Narrowing four answers down to two gives you a much better shot at choosing correctly.
-
Looking something up while you're studying is fine. But eventually, start taking practice exams without notes or Google. You want to know what you know.
-
If you think you understand a concept, try explaining it out loud like you're teaching it to someone else. If you can't explain it simply, that's probably a topic worth reviewing again.
-
You're going to encounter questions you're unsure about. Don't let one tough question affect the next five. Make your best choice, move on, and keep your confidence up.
-
Your goal isn't to become a real estate expert before taking the exam. Your goal is to prepare, practice, pass, and then keep learning. Once your practice scores are consistently strong, get that exam scheduled!
